Gopalanand Swami (1781-1852) was a revered saint and disciple of Swaminarayan in the Swaminarayan Sampradaya. He played a significant role in spreading and guiding followers of the Swaminarayan Sampradaya. Gopalanand Swami is believed to have attained the positions of Ashthangyog, the eightfold paths in sacred yoga. He was appointed as the head of both Vadtal and Ahmedabad Desh.
Born as Khushal Bhatt in Torda Village of Idar, Gujaratalanand, Gop Swami belonged to an audichiya Brahmin family. He was a scholar with expertise in grammar, Indian philosophy, astrology, and other subjects. After receiving diksha (sainthood initiation) from Swaminarayan in Gadhada, Gujarat, he dedicated himself Swaminarayan Sam to thepradaya. Swaminar held him in high regard and entrustedayan him with the responsibility sampradaya.
