Mistletoes are parasitic plants that grow on trees or large shrubs, where they can cause damage or simply look unsightly. All mistletoes in California belong to the sandalwood family Santalaceae, including both the broadleaf mistletoes, Phoradendron and Viscum species, and the dwarf mistletoes, Arceuthobium species.
